Laura’s Children’s Portfolio
Laura was born, raised, educated (Grundis/RMI-Gerghs) and started her career in Sweden. As a free-lance illustrator she worked with a variety of clients in many different fields in Stockholm. In 1993 Laura moved to New York City where she quickly established herself and found work doing illustrations for high-end department stores, magazines and newspapers. Design firms and advertising agencies hired her for their clients in fields ranging from fashion to finance. Laura entered a new phase in her career when her first children’s book was published in 2001, followed by many more and products for children (see link on the left) and adults. She still love New York and now live in Brooklyn with her husband, daughter and dog, Lola. All content of this site is Copyright 2020 Laura Ljungkvist.

Yoo-Hoo Lady Bug!

Laura had the great pleasure of illustrating a Mem Fox book published in 2013. Mem, a master of rhymes and the “Steven Spielberg of Australian children’s books” was a pleasure to work with. In this book readers search for a cute little beetle in different environments. Published by Beach Lane Books.

Pepi Sings a New Song

VIKING published the 3rd of Laura’s line book series in 2008. Follow the line to different countries, climates, environments and end up in space! Along the way readers learn fun facts about the place they find themselves in turning each page.

Follow the Line through the House

This first follow up to Follow the Line, VIKING published in 2007. When readers follow this line they will explore a house from basement to attic and will learn what hides in the closet that’s in the bedroom, the tool box in the basement, the refrigerator in the kitchen, and much, much more.
